Irontite Ceramic Motor Sealer
Instructions for use
For
best results make sure there is no anti-freeze in the cooling system before
completing this process.
Instructions
numbered 1 to 3 below are only completed to flush your cooling system to remove
any anti-freeze.
If
you are sure your cooling system has no anti-freeze you can start with
instruction number 4.
- Drain
the cooling system and flush it through with clean water.
- Re-fill
with fresh water and bleed the system.
- Leave
the cooling system to cool.
- When
cool drain off approx. two pints of water.
- Mix
all the ceramic sealer with one pint of warm water and add to the cooling
system.
- Take
the vehicle on a long run. 50/70 miles would be good distance this will
allow the ceramic sealer to coat the entire engine.
- While
the engine block is warm, drain the water system completely.
- Remove
the top and bottom hose and the radiator filler cap. This is to allow air to
circulate through the complete engine & cooling system. Leave the
vehicle overnight to dry out.
- Next
day, re-fill and bleed the cooling system.
- Once
you have completed the entire process you can then add anti-freeze back into
the cooling system.
Notes.
Why
a 50/70 mile trip:
This allows the ceramic sealer to coat the entire engine.
Why
drain the cooling system while the engine block is warm: Once the system is drained any remaining water will evaporate
away if the block is warm allowing for a better seal.
Why
leave the vehicle overnight to dry: It does not need to be overnight however, it should be at least
12 hours.
Bleeding the cooling system.
Top up the expansion tank to the correct level, with the expansion cap
off start the engine, run the engine until the thermostat opens. Both the top
and the bottom radiator hoses will become warm/hot once the thermostat is open.
Top up the expansion tank as necessary. Rev the engine at 2000 RPM until the air
bubbles stop rising in the expansion tank. Approx. 90 to 120 seconds. Top up as
necessary and refit cap.
Beware when draining hot water.
