Cubby Box Lid - Lifting Strut

If you're struggling to to open your cubby box lid you will probably find the cubby box lid lifting strut's piston is worn.

Providing your cubby box lid is fitted with cup holders, the lid should automatically lift a little whenever the open button is depressed. Overtime the lifting strut's piston wears and prevents the lid lifting.

The Cubby box strut is situated on the inside of the lid, beside the cup holders.

Land Rover made several modifications to the fitting of this strut, depending on the age of your vehicle it will either be attached via a rivet or more commonly a nut & bolt.

You simply undo the nut and bolt on the lower end of the strut, then unclip the opposite end, fit the new strut in reverse order.

If you are one of the unlucky ones that has the lower end of the strut attached by a rivet you can drill out the rivet and replace it with new. If you do not have a rivet gun, use the enclosed nut and bolt I have supplied.

That’s it all done.
